U.S. Postal Service workers earn
"The Purple Heart"

by the Brenhan Banner-Press

U.S. Postal Service workers across America who have earned "The Purple Heart" medal for military combat wounds are now being recognized with a plaque tied in with the postal service's release of a Purple Heart stamp. At the Brenham Post Office this morning, Postmaster Armond Landreneau gave two local postal workers - Donald Wendler (left) and Weldon Finke (right) - their medals. Both men earned Purple Hearts in the Vietnam War. In attendance with local postal employees for Landreneau's presentation to Wendler and Finke were the county's Veterans Service Officer Leroy Loesch, plus Martin Wiesepape, Ben Seeker and Wilbert Horstmann, commanders of American Legion Post 48, VFW Post 7104 and DAV Chapter 189 respectively.
